V71-15 Falmouth to Newlyn

Niv and Steve joined us for the trip around the Lizard to Newlyn. We started at 0715 to catch good tide around the point. The sun was out, and we motor-sailed in the light (5 knot) northerly to arrive in Newlyn at 1415.

In the rest of the afternoon, we walked to Mousehole which was hosting its ‘Sea Salts and Sail‘ festival – featuring many traditional sailing boats. On the way back we had an early supper at the The Fisherman’s Arms.

We also took a look at Admiral Fitzroy’s (founder of the Met Office) barometer, which is embedded in the outside wall of The Ship Inn.
